Plum-Raspberry Mutt Atrata

Atrata

Bonded to Zed

About

Atrata defers to her bond in all things. She’s naturally submissive and hates the weight of making important decisions. She’d rather follow Zed’s lead and have them handle any repercussions from their joint actions. She tries to obfuscate whether that’s insecurity or laziness, but it likely falls more into the former than the latter. She’s not an idle creature, but having decisions pressed upon her makes her angry, and when she gets angry she gets unpleasant to be around.

Atrata can be nasty and bad-tempered, particularly toward land-dwelling individuals. She has a particular dislike of ships and is likely to develop a reputation as a sailor devouring sea monster when she reaches maturity. She is kind and protective toward her bond, but otherwise uninterested in socialization, and she makes this known whenever any of the other residents of the beach-dwelling offshoot of Nidus Aven try and make nice with her.

She spends the larger part of her time out at sea, about half of that with Zed and half of it on her own. She’s a very independent creature, and often the mind-and-heart connection of the bond is enough. The only sticking point is she gets jealous if Zed spends too much time around any other particular dragon.

(Excerpt from hatching, written by Bug)

“There’s still so many of them left,” said Zed, one of the many merfolk attending the clutch. They floated near the clutch of betta-dragonfish, offering Marilla a sympathetic look.

Malacostei remained unperturbed by his offsprings’ tardiness.

As if awaiting Zed’s arrival, a small and glossy egg began to tear, revealing the coiled body of a raspberry-green female. She fled toward Zed and curled around their body.
