Grey David

About

Grey David — Grey or David, he’s not saying if one’s his last name or if they’re both first names or if “grey” is a descriptor — is a steady-handed human man who has seen his share of upheaval. An expat of Star City, he was one of the late departures, after the xenodragons had fully taken over and begun to make the station their own.

This didn’t end up giving him a horror of xenos, at least — it taught him how to deal with them, how to manage himself when facing down a wall of hissing mouths and snapping jaws and poisonous tails. This is par for Grey’s course: he meets problems head-on, finds out how to cope with his own reactions to them, and then figures out how best to deal with them. He has been wildly successful at this, to the point where he will often seek out things that used to scare him or make him angry, half because he knows he can clean up a bad situation, and half to test himself and make sure his hard-won thick skin is still thick.

Because he’s not a stoic, not exactly. Grey feels things deeply and has struggled with anxiety and anger issues all his life. What he does have is a remarkable talent for self-reflection and the ability to put off dealing with his feelings until he’s not in the moment that’s causing them. It makes him come across as unflappable, but that’s after a lifetime of struggle in figuring out how to manage his feelings.

Looks

He’s a blocky fellow who likes to dress in layers. His hair is far too grey for his actual age — in fact, the colour is an old cyborware mod he hasn’t been able to remove since Star City’s doom. He moves slowly and carefully by nature. When he has to run, he favours his left knee.

Wants

To be useful, to be helpful. To save other people from having to deal with traumas he’s dealt with.

Namid

About

Namid was raised by two mothers and a father, with quite the extended family who were all deeply involved in his upbringing. His parents were prolific gardeners for Homewood and Namid enjoyed learning what he could of the trade without being properly involved (too young to be constantly underhoof!) Grandfather Tree’s call caused tension in his family. Two of his parents wanted to go, while one of his mothers wished to remain in Homewood with the children. Namid was torn. The idea of being separated from any of his family was terrifying but he had to make a decision. He felt leaving was probably the harder choice, so decided to join his two parents on their trek to help support them. Waking in the Heimdall alone was the worst feeling Namid had ever experienced.

Namid is certain he can rely upon Grey David to help him through the troubles he’s faced, but he wants to be able to repay that in kind. Namid yearns to be helpful. Whether it’s holding tools for a handyman or being a shoulder to cry on, Namid is a dependable young buck who is eager to prove his worth. Namid feels there’s no place for cockiness when there’s work to be done. Better to ask for aid than fumble things and cause more harm. He’s sturdy, stable, and clear-headed, but open and honest enough with himself to recognize he has his own traumas to deal with. He doesn’t inhibit his emotions – he wouldn’t even if he knew how – but he sometimes leans toward the dramatic. He desires closeness and companionship and is utterly terrified of solitude.

Wants

To have company, always, preferably someone close to his heart. To be useful and strong.
