Sunaka

Sunaka is quietly one of the main pillars that holds up the peace and contentment of the expanding Ferrin clan.

From an eager-to-please, timid, shy youngster she had grown into herself spectacularly. She is still soft-spoken and fairly uninterested in a broader public life, which can easily be mistaken by the observer as being a retiring wallflower, but Sunaka is a deeply involved, proactive soul in the way of water, or the wind. She keeps an eye on her charges (sometimes just the children, sometimes the whole Ferrin clan including the dads and their bonds, occasionally the entire Warren) with an intensely intuitive awareness of their emotional vistas an internal lives.

She is often there before someone knows they even have a problem or an upset, offering silent and rock-solid support, or soft-spoken advice and kindness. She has been known to divert toddler tantrums simply by curling up beside an upset baby. She has been known to avert teenage disasters by knowing exactly when to ask what’s up, but not press or judge. She is almost universally seen as an unbiased ear by the rest of the family.

She knows, too, that she is often overlooked and underestimated, even by her sister, who she loves dearly. This does rankle from time to time. Just because she doesn’t seek the spotlight doesn’t mean that her opinions are any less deep-running, or her feelings any less intense. She still is not good at speaking up just for her own sake, though she has gotten spectacular at defending and advocating for others.

She still loves beautiful things, though that category has shifted to include people more than objects. She’s enjoyed learning the ins and outs of childrearing through the immediate-family-focused filter of her bond: she considers Tally’s many children to be children of her own heart, in a way, as she has been deeply involved in every step of raising them. Her own children, it seems, have been without fail inclined towards bonding from birth, which she does not resent or pine after, but she does tend to keep tabs on her own offspring-by-blood from afar.

For others to extend her the thought and consideration that she offers as a matter of course. To raise the Ferrin brood to happy, healthy adults.
